 The Navy trawler GY 28 Japan sank, off the Shipwash Light, after triking a mine, laid by UC 6 (Commander:Mathias Graf von Schmettow). She was engaged in mine sweeping at the time. Five of the crew lost their lives:

J Westcott, 2nd Hand

T Richardson, Deckhand

C Wing, Deckhand

H Moisey, Deckhand

 

Tuesday 17th August 1915

 The Yarmouth steam drifter YH 537 George Baker was stopped and sunk by U 38 (Commander:Max Valentiner) 45 miles North of Bishop Rock

 

Wednesday 18th August 1915

The Lowestoft steam drifter LT 131 Repeat was stopped and sunk by U 38 (Commander:Max Valentiner) 18 miles West by South of Bardsey Island
