Monday 1st March 1915

 The Hull trawler H 675 Sapphire sank after striking a mine laid by the German cruiser Kolberg off Filey.

Casualties: Alfred Collin Greening, 26, Spare Hand. The crew were rescued by the Liverpool steamer Gertie.

 

Tuesday 2nd March 1915

 The North Shields trawler SN 40 Sarah took up a mine in her nets while fishing off the Northumberland Coast. The crew saw the mine and cut their gear away. However the mine exploded shaking but not seriously damaging the trawler.

 

 

 

Wednesday  3rd March 1915

 The Grimsby trawler GY 528 Rondo was wrecked at the Shetland Islands while on hire to the Admiralty as an Armed Patrol vessel.

The body of George Welburn of Scarborough, a crewman on the Hartlepool trawler HL 59 Tors was recovered from the Victoria Dock in Hartlepool. He had been missing since January 16th.

 The Hull trawler H 644 John Sherburn was wrecked near Dover while on hire to the Admiralty as an Armed Patrol vessel.
