 The  Lowestoft trawler LT 760 Ivy was reported missing with her crew of five. It was assumed that she had struck a mine.

 The Brixham trawling smack BM 291  Provident gave assistance to the crew of the battleship Formidable after she was torpedoed by U 24, Captain Rudolph Schneider,  30 miles South of Lyme Regis. Great tribute was paid to the seamanship of the young skipper of the Provident, William Pillar of Mount Pleasant road, Brixham. Of the crew of approx 711 men on the Formidable 547 were lost with their ship.

The Yarmouth steam drifter YH 185 City of Hull ran aground at St Osyths. The crew were able to walk ashore at low tide.The vessel was later refloated.
