FR 346 Tea Rose won the Trophy with a shot of 128 crans. This was the final year in which the Trophy was awarded. The relatively small winning catch and the 'no award' in 1965 were indicators of the rapid demise of the East Anglian herring fishery. Very shortly afterwards the whole North Sea herring Fishery was closed for many years to aid stock recovery. The end of this fishery marked the end of a whole way of life which had lasted for hundreds of years. In its peak years the East Anglian fishery boasted 1400 or more boats of which about 900 were Scottish.
